The NASCAR Cup Series hits Daytona International Speedway this Sunday for the iconic Daytona 500, but adverse weather has already wreaked havoc with the schedule this week.
Truck Series running was canceled on Thursday night due to the rain, for example, and Cup Series practice on Friday was shortened due to the same reason.
With the timings for Sunday's race having been moved, NASCAR is clearly concerned about how the weather looks on Sunday.
They have every right to be looking at the forecasts, too, with an 88% chance of rain forecast during the day at present. This rainfall is expected to last for as long as three hours.
Rain threatens throughout the morning and into the afternoon, with the threat of showers not fading until late evening.
Thunderstorms are also forecast to hit the area between 10 and 11 am local time, just a few hours ahead of the race.
At this moment in time, even with NASCAR's time change, a potential race delay certainly can not be ruled out, with adverse weather conditions potentially set to cause havoc to the planned schedule.
