Schumacher Haas future hangs on "50-50" thread

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed Mick Schumacher's future with the team is "50-50".

The German was unable to impose himself on the F1 grid during his rookie season due to Haas' woefully uncompetitive VF-21.

But whilst the returning Kevin Magnussen hit the ground running at the start of this season, Schumacher only picked up his first points at the British Grand Prix, finishing eighth.

Although that performance was followed up with a career-high sixth in Austria, the 23-year-old has failed to score since.

Asked about Schumacher's future and when a decision could be expected, Steiner told RTL: "These are all questions that are floating around.

"You put yourself under pressure and we don't need that, we're only playing against ourselves.

"We don't actually have any time pressure at all, everyone else has time pressure, but we don't. That's an advantage that we don't take away from us.”

After suggesting Schumacher's future with the team is currently "50-50", Steiner then simply added: "Mick drove a good race in Monza."
