It proved to be a remarkable qualifying day that delivered excitement and confusion in equal measure given the ingenuity required to work out the grid for the Italian Grand Prix.
In conclusion, Charles Leclerc at least provided the Tifosi with something to cheer as he secured a genuine pole position by topping the timesheet in his Ferrari, leaving those below to ponder their starting position given the plethora of penalties.
Despite starting from seventh, in light of a power unit penalty, reigning champion Max Verstappen remains the favourite to land a fifth consecutive victory.

GPFans' F1 ITALIAN GP PREDICTION
The F1 romantics will hope for a Ferrari victory and despite Charles Leclerc's superb pole position, Max Verstappen remains the man to beat.
A power unit penalty, after all the confusion surrounding grid positions after qualifying, means Verstappen lines up seventh.
But with that fresh engine, and after wins from 10th and 14th on the grid in the recent Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix, even Mercedes' George Russell said you would "have to be pretty stupid" to bet against him.
WINNER: Max Verstappen
