F1 British Grand Prix starting grid with penalties applied

For the first time in his 150 grands prix in F1, Carlos Sainz faces the unusual sight of no car ahead of him when he leads away the field at Silverstone.

The Ferrari driver mastered the wet conditions in British Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday to score the first pole position of his F1 career. Can Sainz now turn that into his maiden victory?

Alongside him is the odds-on favourite for the win in Red Bull's Max Verstappen who holds a commanding 46-point lead in the standings after an astonishing run of five wins in the last six races.

On the second row, it is another Ferrari-Red Bull combination, with Charles Leclerc ahead of Sergio Perez, while Lewis Hamilton is the first of the home heroes in fifth in his Mercedes.

McLaren's Lando Norris lines up sixth, with Hamilton's team-mate George Russell eighth.

For Aston Martin, whose home is across the road from the circuit, qualifying was a disaster as Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll line up a miserable 18th and 20th.

With no penalties for this weekend, here is your confirmed grid...
