F1 has announced a new deal that will see the Australian Grand Prix remain in Melbourne instead of moving to Sydney.
Albert Park's current deal was set to expire following the 2025 race but the new deal means that the Melbourne circuit will now remain a permanent fixture on the F1 calendar until 2035.
GPFans understands that a rival bid was submitted by New South Wales state capital Sydney with a potential street track around the harbour previously mentioned.
For this year's event, a number of radical changes were made to the Albert Park layout to promote better racing and more overtaking with drivers providing a largely positive reaction to the modifications.
But could a move to Sydney have boosted entertainment levels further still? Let us know your thoughts in the poll below!
