Verstappen hopeful of Red Bull "clean start" to Spanish Grand Prix

Max Verstappen is hopeful Red Bull can continue its Miami momentum by getting off to a "clean start" at the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.

The Dutchman has closed the gap to Charles Leclerc in F1's drivers' standings to just 19 points after clinching his third win of the season in the United States last time out.

Verstappen overcame more Red Bull reliability issues in practice to take that victory, with team-mate Sergio Perez experiencing problems in the race to add to the worries held since the three retirements between the pair in Bahrain and Australia.

Returning to Barcelona for the start of F1's traditional European season - split by the Canadian Grand Prix next month - Verstappen, who won his first F1 race at the venue, said: "We had an incredible week in Miami, I’ve had some time to rest with my family since and now I’m looking forward to driving in Barcelona again.

"I have a lot of good memories at the track from my first win in Formula 1 back in 2016 when I was 18.

"The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a track that we all know very well as a team due to amount of testing we have done there over the years, so unlike Miami, we have a substantial amount of data to use ahead of the race.

"Hopefully, we can keep the momentum going from the last few races with a clean start from Friday onwards."
