George Russell has revealed Mercedes is "working day and night" to find solutions to the W13's deficit to rivals Ferrari and Red Bull.
Mercedes found itself on the back foot at the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix following the introduction of new aerodynamic regulations for this season.
Explaining the lengths the team is going to in order to discover a remedy given the lack of running available, Russell said: "Everybody is working day and night to find a solution as soon as possible.
"We are a bit time-limited because the only time we can test is during an FP1 or FP2 session.
"Equally, you have to focus on the race weekend and we only have two hours' worth of practice on a Friday per race weekend. It’s not long."
Mercedes "excitement" for car fix
Mercedes head into this weekend's Australian Grand Prix already 40 points behind Ferrari in the constructors' standings, with the Scuderia suggesting it is ready to end the German marque's eight-year stranglehold on the championship.
Russell is naturally hoping Mercedes can at least hang onto Ferrari's coat-tails until a fix is found.
"Even if it goes all the way into the summer break, you’ve got so many races after that," added the 24-year-old.
"If we continue to maximise our points and damage limitation to be within touching distance, if we come out and suddenly resolve all our issues and we are the team to beat, there’s no reason why we can’t overturn the deficit.
"We all have excitement that a solution can be found."
