Leclerc 'not happy' with driving despite Bahrain pole

Charles Leclerc has conceded he was not happy with his driving before putting in a Q3 lap that earned him pole position for the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Leclerc snatched pole position with his last flying lap in qualifying with reigning champion Max Verstappen falling 0.123secs short of the Monegasque's time.

Despite securing his position at the front of the grid for Sunday's grand prix, Leclerc conceded he has yet to find his driving style in the new machinery.

"It feels good! The last two years have been incredibly difficult for the team and we were quite hopeful that this new opportunity was an opportunity to be back at the front," said Leclerc.

"We have worked extremely well as a team to find ourselves in a position to fight for better places.

"Very happy with today but it’s been a tricky qualifying session. I wasn’t completely happy with my driving but managed to do that lap in Q3 and we’re starting from pole, so very happy.

"From the driving point, it’s completely different compared to last year.

"Testing was very useful for this, I tried many different driving styles and I still need to find a perfect one. There’s definitely much more to come from us."
