Verstappen claims 'no need' for full Abu Dhabi report to be published

Max Verstappen believes there is 'no need' for the FIA to publish its full review of last year's controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with the World Motor Sport Council set to meet on Saturday.

Over three months have passed since the conclusion of the dramatic 2021 campaign and despite the introduction of a new race management structure, including a virtual race control room, there remains an element of ill-feeling on social media.

Despite this, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali claimed earlier this week the sport does not have a "trust" problem and urged the FIA to share its findings in full.

In disagreement with Domenicali, Verstappen said: "I don't think we need a full report.

"Of course, every year it is good to discuss what happened the year before and what you can do better.

"That is what teams do as well, you analyse everything you do so we will find out and if things can be written down in an easier way or a way to understand it better in the wording, for sure, but let's see."

Asked if he had a point to prove this year given the controversial nature of the season finale and his title triumph, Verstappen bluntly stated: "No.

"I proved that with the most wins, the most poles and most laps led. People forget that. They only look at Abu Dhabi apparently.

"But we have more races than only Abu Dhabi in the season."
