Fernando Alonso has hinted at "interesting solutions" incorporated by Alpine in its 2022 challenger.
Alpine launched the A522 ahead of pre-season testing, unveiling two striking liveries in conjunction with partner BWT which will see a predominantly pink design be raced in the first two rounds of the championship.
With the new regulations providing a reset of development, teams will be looking for any advantage gained through design possible to start a step ahead of the competition.
Speaking after the launch, Alonso said: "The new car, I really like the livery, I like the colours, the combination.
"Obviously, the technical side of it we have to keep secret and we have to first hit the track and see how it behaves.
"It is going to be an intense winter for us. We need to develop the car as fast as we can and learn from the new regulations, but we have some interesting solutions on the car so let’s see if we can unlock the performance as soon as possible.”
The two-time world champion joined Alpine for the 2021 season after a two-year sabbatical with his eyes locked firmly on the prospects of tackling a new set of regulations this year.
Asked if the new cars will be a gamechanger for F1, Alonso replied: “I hope so!
“I came back to the sport in 2020 because of these regulations, so it has been one and a half years that we wait for these cars.
“I think the team did an amazing job in the last year building this car in Enstone, so we are all very motivated."
