Williams break cover with true FW44

Williams has broken cover with the FW44 at Silverstone after revealing its new livery earlier on Tuesday on an F1 2022 show car.

The first on-track images of the FW44 have been shared by Williams with Nicholas Latifi completing a shakedown test in the wet conditions at Silverstone.

Asked in a media session including GPFans why the team hadn't revealed its actual car at the launch, Williams team principal and CEO, Jost Capito, explained: "We worked on the livery and we wanted to have that perfect and that is why we could only do it on the show car because it took a while to do."

Confirming the team's development was going to plan and the absence of the true FW44 at the launch was not a result of delays or the car being unfinished, Capito added: "It is all on plan.

"It should have run a bit earlier today but we had an issue on the electronics that had to be solved and it took a bit longer so we will start at two instead of at one and that is it.

"I accept this one hour delay!"
