McLaren reveal Lego "interpretation" of F1 2022 car

McLaren has lifted the covers off a Lego "interpretation" of a 2022-style F1 car ahead of the team's official season launch on Friday.

McLaren and Lego have partnered to create a 1,432-piece model based on the new-look 2022 F1 machinery.

The model features key details that stand out in the new designs including the curved front and rear wings, wheel covers and front wheel arches.

“We are excited to unveil the unique Lego Technic model of our McLaren F1 car, a fun and engaging product that celebrates our 2021 season livery while giving fans a hands-on interpretation of the new 2022 F1 car design," said McLaren technical director James Key.

"This has been made possible by an agile collaboration with the Lego Group team, who have truly embraced the spirit of our brave and bold approach to design.

"The final product looks fantastic, and we cannot wait to make this available to our fans."

The model is 13cm tall and 65cm long and features the team's 2021 livery from the MCL35M.

In a video posted on social media, Lando Norris said: "It's actually a very beautiful car."

Daniel Ricciardo added: "Lego sets these days are much more advanced than 25 years ago when I was a kid. This is really good."

The kit will be available globally from 1 March 2022.
