Red Bull confirm new-car update for season-opener in Bahrain

Red Bull has confirmed it already has in the pipeline an update for its yet-to-be-launched RB18 for the opening race of the new F1 season in March.

The team will unveil its new-for-2022 car on February 9 via what it has described as "a launch like no other" given the level of fan engagement that is planned.

But as with any launch, and especially one at the start of a new regulatory era, the RB18 that will be rolled out on that day will be markedly different when the car hits the track in Bahrain on March 18-20.

"The presentation is important for the fans and our sponsors, but it doesn't show any special details of the car," Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko remarked in an interview with SPORT1.

"The new car will not be ready until shortly before the start of the first test in Barcelona on February 23.

"From then on, the car will be further developed and will receive an update for the first race of the season on March 20 in Bahrain."

On this occasion due to the new regulations, and compared to previous years, Marko insists Red Bull "does not want to show everything too early".
