Rosberg jokes 'jinx ended' after Rafael Nadal record Grand Slam win

Nico Rosberg has joked that his "jinx career" is "over" after Rafael Nadal secured a record-breaking 21st tennis Grand Slam victory.

Nadal secured his latest Grand Slam title in a match that lasted five hours and 24 minutes against US Open winner Daniil Medvedev, winning three sets to two after initially falling two down.

The Spaniard recovered from a six-month layoff after suffering from a recurrence of a long-standing foot injury last year.

Quick to praise Nadal, was 2016 F1 champion Rosberg who said via social media: "What a comeback!!! When I met Rafael Nadal last summer, we spoke about his injury: "I'll have some doubts, but I know the process, & I'm confident that I'll have my chances."

"Doubts [equal a] big motivator to work & prep for perfection!

"Big congrats, Rafa, for winning the Australian Open."

The German added that Nadal's victory could signal the end of his "career" as a jinx with a number of teams or individuals losing matches after receiving his wishes of 'luck'.

"Is my jinx career over," added Rosberg.

"After jinxing Leclerc in Monaco and Germany's Football team at the Euros, I'm very happy that my "Good luck" for Rafa turned out well this time..."
