McLaren announces MCL36 launch date

McLaren has announced its plans to launch its 2022 F1 challenger next month.

The Woking-based team has become the third team to do so after Aston Martin and Ferrari.

McLaren finished fourth in last season's constructors' standings after a season-long fight with the Scuderia, despite taking its first victory in seven years at the Italian Grand Prix through Daniel Ricciardo.

The team will hope the rules reset will allow for the MCL36 to challenge at the very front and add to its rich F1 history this year.

Unveiling its plans for the launch, McLaren confirmed the reveal of the all-new breed of machinery will take place at the McLaren Technology Centre on February 11.

The F1 team will be joined by McLaren's IndyCar, Extreme E and Shadow Esports squads to celebrate the occasion.

The first day of pre-season testing will get underway 12 days after the launch on February 23, with the first race of the year in Bahrain taking place on March 20.
