Raikkonen keen on motocross challenge

Kimi Raikkonen has revealed he is keen to spend "a bit more time" on his Ice One Racing motocross team following his retirement from F1.

The former McLaren, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo driver bowed out of F1 after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in mid-December, bringing to a close a career spanning 19 seasons and 349 race starts.

Although the 2007 champion has maintained he has no specific plans for the future, paying closer attention to his motocross team appears to be high on the Finn's list of priorities.

Speaking to GPFans, Raikkonen said: "Yeah, I've got the motocross team, for 10 years now.

"I've not had much time to spend on that because of the racing. I'll now have a bit more time to spend on that.

"I'm also looking forward to deciding as a family if we want to go somewhere, and not having to book a race or a test, fitting into some other schedule."

Commenting on his famed disdain for media commitments, 2007 champion Raikkonen added: "Yeah, I've never been a big fan of it, and I never will be.

"But I've always known it's a part of F1, part of any professional sport. You take football, ice hockey.

"Even if you do your hobby, let's say motocross.

"I enjoy the motocross part, to get everything ready, then you have the fun, but then you have to wash everything down.

"With anything, there are things that are not the most enjoyable."
