Vettel slates fellow F1 drivers for Abu Dhabi qualifying conduct

Sebastian Vettel has blasted his fellow F1 drivers for their conduct during Abu Dhabi Grand Prix qualifying.

In a bizarre series of events as drivers squabbled for track position in the closing stages of Q2, Aston Martin driver Vettel stopped completely on the exit of turn 14.

What transpired was the latest in a long list of incidents where the so-called 'gentleman's agreement' had failed to be adhered to, with the four-time world champion attempting to find space to begin his lap.

The German ultimately missed out on advancing into Q3 and will start the final race of the season 15th.

Asked if the traffic was a "nightmare", Vettel replied: "Yeah, it is bad when you have so many cars in the same spot.

"It is always the same people jumping the queue but they always get away with it so I guess they have a reason.

"I tried to go back and use the time but the tyres cooled down too much, more than I thought and the lap was gone."

"I was stopping for like half a minute but it didn't help."

On his prospects for the race, Vettel conceded: "I don't know, we will try to overtake a couple of cars and then have a good race."

The stewards, however, determined Vettel was not impeded by Alpine's Esteban Ocon.
