Hamilton backs LGBTQIA+ community with striking rainbow helmet in Qatar

Lewis Hamilton unveiled a striking helmet ahead of FP1 in Qatar showing his support to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Hamilton has been a leading voice for equality in Formula 1 in recent years and has put pressure on the sport to create positive change.

Ahead of the first Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton was again vocal against the questionable human rights issues of both the current weekend's venue as well as the next venue, Saudi Arabia.

Acknowledging Qatar is "trying to take steps" to become more progressive, Hamilton's helmet change is a direct challenge to the region where homosexuality is illegal.

On the rear of his helmet, now dominated by inclusive rainbow symbolism, the phrase 'still I rise' has been replaced by "we stand together".
