George Russell has revealed he is yet to receive his promised pint from Alex Albon but that he would likely wait until the end of the season for the gift.

With Russell making the move to Mercedes for 2022, Red Bull reserve driver Albon was signed by Williams as the replacement after an apparent recommendation from the outgoing driver.

In response, Albon suggested he would "owe him a couple of beers" but Russell said: "He hasn't bought me that pint yet.

"We will save that until the end of the season and I guess have a bit of a celebration properly when the time is right. Not yet, I am still waiting."

The pair attended an NFL match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Miami Dolphins 23-20.

Russell has "a lot to thank" Williams for

Ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix last time out, Russell had matched the points tally of Red Bull driver Sergio Perez over a six-race period.

Asked if he could have ever dreamt of such a statistic, Russell conceded: "I would say definitely not after the first test or race, to be honest.

"Obviously, prior to the season, you are always hoping and always think it will be an improvement on the previous one but certainly, after the Bahrain test and the Bahrain race, there was no way I would have thought those stats would be possible.

"I think a lot to thank the team for making a lot of good decisions at the right moments.

"I think we have done an amazing job, being in the right place and the right time to capitalise on these moments.

"We have improved the car as well along the way, we have understood it more and tried some things and things have turned out better than perhaps we would have expected.

"I think we have found a bit of performance there. It was maybe a bit of a shame that we didn't score some more points given the circumstances at the end of the race.

"We had a really difficult final stint but it has definitely been a good five races or so."
