Christian Horner has joked Red Bull will "go to church every other Sunday" ahead of a potentially "random" end to the season.

Max Verstappen reclaimed a six-point lead in the drivers' standings over Lewis Hamilton with a second-place finish in Turkey, whilst Sergio Perez's podium ensured the damage in the constructors' championship to three points, the deficit to Mercedes now at 36 points.

The final six races of the season feature two new venues in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as a reprofiled layout in Abu Dhabi.

Asked how the team could prepare for these unknowns, Horner replied: "We go to church every other Sunday and see what happens.

"We will do our simulation, do our homework and we will do the best job that we can.

"We will do as much research as we can into the venues and go from there. We have got to take it one race at a time.

"We have maximised points at tracks that Mercedes have been incredibly strong at, the last three venues, so that has been a positive."

This season has seen four different constructors take victory whilst five different drivers have taken pole position.

With weather conditions also being a major factor in race results, as well as reliability and collisions between Verstappen and Hamilton, Horner is prepared for random variables ahead of the run-in.

"I think one of the great things of the season has been the variance of winners that we have had," he added.

"It seems a shame to change it for next year really. There is probably going to be some random effects coming up.

"Again, engine penalties can play a role, will play a role at future races and weather can be a key factor as well. It is going to be fascinating to see how it all pans out over the next two months."
