Haas "ready to get points" after Schumacher excellence - Steiner

Guenther Steiner has declared his Haas team is ready to score points in F1 next season after the outfit perfected its qualifying strategy to advance to Q2 in Turkey.

Mick Schumacher started 14th for the Turkish Grand Prix after setting a stunning lap in the first part of qualifying, knocking Daniel Ricciardo into the elimination zone.

The German rookie was stripped of the chance of advancing to Q3 as the track evolved late on with Lance Stroll spinning ahead of Schumacher on his final lap whilst on soft tyres.

A positive race result evaporated on lap two when Schumacher was hit by Fernando Alonso but Steiner was impressed with the execution of the session and believes this was proof the team can score points with a competitive car in the future.

"That was my personal greatest satisfaction, to see how the team executed," said Steiner.

"We are ready for next year, we are fine. If the situation arises, yeah, we will make mistakes as well but there was a chance there and it was like working like they were working together for three or five years.

"Mick was very calm, his race engineer did a great job always staying calm. Especially having Ayao standing in as Nikita's race engineer, so there was no chief race engineer there and they all did a good job.

"Everybody did what they needed to do, the mechanics, I mean everyone just executed really well.

"That is what made me happy because I am happy now, we are ready. If we get a better car, the race team is ready to get some points."
