FIA medical car team out of Turkish GP after positive Covid tests

The FIA has been forced to replace its medical car team for this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

Driver Alan van der Merwe and FIA F1 medical rescue co-ordinator and deputy medical delegate Dr Ian Roberts have both been ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19, the FIA has confirmed to GPFans.

The duo is currently in self-isolation after contracting the virus prior to travelling to Istanbul. They should be back in attendance for the United States Grand Prix later this month.

Van der Merwe has been replaced by Formula E safety car driver Bruno Correia, while stepping in for Roberts is medical delegate Dr Bruno Franceschini.

Correia, who previously competed in Portuguese Formula Ford and Spanish Formula Renault, has also been a safety car driver for the World Touring Car Championship.
