George Russell paid tribute to his Williams team for its "years" of hard work after claiming his maiden podium at the rain-shortened Belgian Grand Prix.
The British driver started on the front row after a sensational qualifying performance in wet conditions on Saturday but was not afforded the chance to race in torrential rain during the race.
Drivers were able to complete just two laps of the grand prix behind the safety car after a three-hour delay, with half-points being awarded.
"We don't often get rewarded for great qualifyings but today we absolutely did," said Russell.
"I want to say so sorry to all the fans and amazing, their support, to stay out here throughout.
"We were all in the same boat. It is a shame we couldn't get this race underway but just from my side and the team's side, just such an amazing result.
"A little celebration tonight for sure. The team deserve it.
"They have given so much hard work over the last few years, there has not really been anything to show for it and we absolutely nailed it yesterday and here we are, standing on the podium. I can tell you, I didn't expect that this year."
