Mercedes-Red Bull "war" only on track - Wolff

Toto Wolff has insisted the only war between Red Bull and Mercedes is on track.

Wolff and Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner have fallen out on numerous occasions this season, with the flashpoint in Baku where both levelled criticism at each other.

The Austrian told GPFans Global: "I got annoyed in Baku, and that is not something that's normally happening to me. On reflection, I want to concentrate my focus on the team and on myself, rather than be distracted by noise."

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have battled with each other throughout the season before eventually making contact at the British Grand Prix.

In Hungary, Red Bull was less than impressed by losing points due to a collision with a Mercedes for the second race running after Valtteri Bottas triggered a multi-car incident.

"The competition on track is always on," Wolff said in an interview including GPFans Global.

"Straight from the beginning of the year, it has been a tough fight. You can see whatever happens it's going to be very, very close between the two drivers and between the two teams, so there is always a war on track.

Pushed on whether this war spread beyond the race track, Wolff replied: "For me, it's just on track."
