Norris 'won't let Seidl forget' if England beat Germany in EURO 2020
England and Germany meet at Wembley on Tuesday
Lando Norris and McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl have nailed their colours to the mast ahead of England and Germany's crucial last-16 fixture in EURO 2020.
In each World Cup or European Championship year, it is inevitable personnel will find themselves in opposition. For Seidl, a German in charge of British-based McLaren, this will certainly be the case on Tuesday for the game at Wembley.
Conceding he is unsure of the boundaries, Norris joked: "A lot of us are British so I think will be supporting England.
"But Andreas is the obvious one who is a big football fan, a big Germany supporter of course. But he is also my boss so I don’t know how to pace myself with supporting England.
“If we can beat them at some point, he’s not going to be forgetting about it any time soon so we will see.”
A lone German shirt in an English crowd
Rising to the occasion himself and upon hearing Norris' remarks, Seidl confirmed he will proudly display his German colours and watch the game alongside the McLaren engineers.
“There are regularly WhatsApps flying around when it comes to the football in the team now but I am actually looking forward to it," said Seidl.
"We still have to figure out where we will watch it together as a team the game next Tuesday.
“I will definitely wear my German shirt. There will be a lot of English shirts around in the team - but I am looking forward to getting through to the next stage with the German team!”
