Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi is hoping he can reach Q3 during an adrenaline-fuelled Monaco Grand Prix qualifying where he will 'never be on the limit'.
The Italian driver has impressed throughout the opening four races but bad luck has hit consistently to take him out of points scoring contention, with the latest in a string of misfortunes coming with a deflated tyre at his pit stop in Barcelona.
Ahead of the Monaco weekend, Giovinazzi pointed to the importance of building comfort throughout each session.
"At a normal track you can be almost 100 per cent on the limit, but here you cannot," said Giovinazzi.
"From the start of the weekend you need to build your confidence in the track, with the car, and then maybe on the quali lap you can be at 90 per cent, but still not 100.
"To be here on the limit is just too difficult, I would say, but if you do a good lap here then you can feel the adrenaline is really high. It's a really nice feeling."
When asked if he believed points were reachable around the tight and twisting streets of the Principality, Giovinazzi added: "I hope so. We've been close.
"In Bahrain, less than one-tenth, in Portimão a little bit more, but I hope here we can put it all together.
"We saw in the previous race that all the cars are really close in qualifying, and here it will be much closer.
"It will be tough but we will do our best to be in Q3."
