Mercedes and Vettel bottom of lap charts - pre-season test by numbers

Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel finished at the bottom of the constructors' and full-time Formula 1 drivers' lap charts at the end of pre-season testing in Bahrain.

You could not have predicted that before the three days started but that is exactly the situation both Mercedes and Vettel find themselves come the conclusion. Only Williams reserve Roy Nissany had fewer laps than the Aston Martin driver.

To add to Mercedes' woes, trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin has stated the team also has pace issues.

As for Vettel, he claims he finished 100 laps short of the number he would have liked to have felt more comfortable with his new team Aston Martin going into the season.

At the top for the teams were surprises in AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo, with drivers Pierre Gasly and Kimi Raikkonen leading the way for the drivers.

With Red Bull's Max Verstappen quickest overall, pre-season testing has suggested the forthcoming season could be a fascinating one.

GPFans Global crunches the numbers to reveal who has plugged the most mileage in this season's limited testing window.
