Romain Grosjean has sat in an IndyCar for the first time ahead of his maiden test at Barber Motorsports Park.
Grosjean will make his first outing in a race car since his fiery accident at last season's Bahrain Grand Prix when he takes to the Alabama circuit ahead of his first season in the series for Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing.
Less than three months have since the crash which brought his Formula 1 career to a premature end, the Frenchman will wear a special helmet designed by his children for at least his opening test - the design initially prepared for what would have been his final F1 race in Abu Dhabi.
In a social media post, Grosjean said: "The Phoenix is ready!
"Finally wearing this helmet means so much to me. @mariongrosjean, Sacha, Simon & Camille will be with me tomorrow for my first @indycar test.
"Can you imagine that we are back on track less than 3 months after Bahrain?
Thank you to everyone that made it possible."
Grosjean's IndyCar debut will take place at the same location on April 18 for the Grand Prix of Alabama.
