VIDEO: How a driver earns their super license

In order to race in Formula 1 a driver must hold an FIA super licence, but how are these earned? All the details are here in the latest FactChecker.

Super licence points can be won in a number of junior categories, and also some top class championships, but a driver must hold a score of 40 or higher, the points gathered over a period of three years, to be granted the licence.

Had Mick Schumacher, Yuki Tsunoda or Nikita Mazepin, all of whom will race in their rookie F1 seasons this year, have finished lower in the F2 standings last year, none would have been granted there licence.
