Chances of being in Formula 1 next season "very slim" - Kvyat

AlphaTauri driver Daniil Kvyat has revealed the chances of him remaining on the Formula 1 grid in 2021 are "very slim".

Kvyat's seat alongside Pierre Gasly has been brought into question in recent times, with speculation growing around the promotion of Japanese Formula 2 driver Yuki Tsunoda.

Whilst Kvyat insisted that "there is no real update," the Russian suggested the next three races may be his last in the sport but was not letting any mounting pressure to interrupt his tail-end of the season affect him.

"The chances of me being here next year are very slim," he said. "I am kind of already with my mind focusing on the three races here and not really thinking to myself about the future.

"I am just going to give my best to the team in the next three races and then we will see. They deserve me to be thinking about these three races and staying focused because, in the end, this year there has been a lot of ups and downs but lately it has been better and better.

"I am just hoping to continue this trend and close the year in the best way possible and then we will see what the future holds."

Kvyat acknowledges there is nothing more he can do in such a situation other than to give his best, revealing he will not simply enjoy what could be his final laps in the sport.

"There is no goal, it never changed for me, whether I know I am staying or not," he explained.

"I always give my best, every race. For the last few races, it hasn't changed. I do my best, work with my engineers and do the best driving I can. This is the only thing I can do in these circumstances."
