Russell aiming for "strong" finish to avoid Williams' worst season ever

George Russell has said he is determined to have a "strong" finish to the season as he seeks to score his first Formula 1 point and prevent Williams from recording the lowest scoring season in their history.

The former world championship winning team, which last won the title in 1997, is currently last in the constructors' championship with zero points, one point less than their previous worst ever score set last year.

However, compared to 2019, the on-track performances have been much improved, with Russell and team-mate Nicholas Latifi finishing one place outside the points-paying positions in 11th four times.

"I am really looking forward to these final three races, it has been a very intense season and it has absolutely flown by," said Russell.

"Bahrain is a circuit that I always enjoy and is a race that takes place at dusk which is an exciting dynamic to experience again.

"There is plenty to look forward to and we want to end this season strong, to be satisfied and pleased with the job we have done before heading into the winter break and 2021."

The Bahrain track is a special one for Latifi, as the circuit was where he first tested for Williams in 2019 before making his official debut in FP1 at his home race in Canada later that year.

"I am really excited to head to Bahrain for the next round of races," said Latifi. "The track is one that I have plenty of experience on, it is also the track where I had my first test with Williams last year. Hopefully that will help me get up to speed better.

"It will be good to race in some warm weather, especially coming off the back of a tricky race in Turkey."
