Grosjean warned radio outbursts could cost him Haas seat

Haas boss Guenther Steiner has suggested Romain Grosjean's outbursts across the Russian Grand Prix weekend could be damaging his chances of remaining with the team in 2021.

Haas is one of three teams yet to confirm a driver for next year, alongside Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri, and with Steiner recently stating it has a lengthy list of candidates.

As far as Steiner is concerned, the continual stream of frustrated radio messages from Grosjean could lead to the exit door, which would bring to an end his five years with the team.

Grosjean, bottom of the drivers' standings without a point, pulled no punches on occasion during the Russian GP weekend as at one point he said "There is nothing I can do with this car," and that he is "fed up" with the current situation.

Asked for his reaction to the comments, Steiner said: "I guess he wants to tell you guys [the media] as well. He is just sympathetic to you guys so you get it live so I have to do less work.

"He tries to be nice to me, giving me less work, so he broadcasts it directly so I have to do less work.

"So maybe that will help with the driver choice if he tries to help me."

Steiner has always been an open book in relation to the problems faced by his team in the current campaign, and while not disagreeing with any individual comment from Grosjean, he confessed the criticisms are now wearing thin.

He added: "It is just getting old after a while because we know what is wrong.

"I am always very honest with you guys what is happening. We are not happy and we are not trying to hide anything.

"It is just like there is a way to do things and if he thinks they are the right things then that is what he should be doing."
