Haas summoned to the stewards for alleged use of driver aids

Both Haas drivers have been summoned to the race stewards over the alleged use of driver aids on the formation lap at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Haas scored their first points of the 2020 Formula 1 season at the Hungaroring after Kevin Magnussen finished ninth, but this result could now be in jeopardy.

The reason for the summons is detailed: "[An] Alleged breach of Article 27.1 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, driver aids during formation lap."

The regulation detailed states simply: "The driver must drive the car alone and unaided."

Speaking moments before the summons was issued, Haas team principal Guenther Steiner had highlighted the importance of Magnussen's points for the morale of the team.

“They were on furlough for three to four months before going to Austria, and in Austria the results were not fantastic, to say the least," said Steiner.

“The guys have been on the road now a third week, so going away from here now they have a weekend off - going away from here with points - is something which is like a morale booster.

"Points speak for themselves for a race team. I think everybody did a good job, nobody gave up, and we got some points. That’s the most important thing.”
