Lance Stroll has set his sights on bringing home some "big points" from the Hungarian Grand Prix after qualifying a Formula 1 career-high third.
Stroll only has Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas ahead of him on the Hungaroring grid, with team-mate Sergio Perez keeping him company on the second row as Racing Point underlined the pace of its RP20 package.
A delighted Stroll said: "[I'm] Very happy at the moment. The car was really strong all the way through, throughout qualifying, throughout the whole weekend really.
"We've had the pace, and it was just about piecing it together during that qualifying session. A really great job by all the guys, a really great session, and now [my] sights are set on tomorrow, and trying to grab some big points."
In Q2, Racing Point took the gamble to attempt to qualify from the session on the harder, medium compound tyres. Aside from Mercedes, the other runners in the session ran on the faster, soft compound of Pirelli rubber, but the risk paid off.
Starting on the medium tyres for the grand prix provides an advantage as it opens up strategy options.
"It was a gamble, but that's put us in a good position for tomorrow," added Stroll.
"I'm really happy we managed to get through on the mediums and my lap at the end really felt like it was spot on. It always feels great when you put it all together at the end of qualifying."
Pointing to his face mask, the Canadian added: "There's a big smile under here."
