Binotto: The worst conclusion to an already bad weekend

Mattia Binotto bemoaned the incident which left both Ferrari's out of the Styrian Grand Prix, stating that it was 'the worst conclusion to an already bad weekend'.

A lap one dive-bomb on team-mate Sebastian Vettel by Charles Leclerc caused race ending damage to the cars of both drivers.

The collision capped a dismal weekend for the team, the two drivers having only managed to qualify 10th and 11th for the Styrian Grand Prix.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Binotto was understandably unhappy with the outcome, saying: "I don't think there is much to say to the drivers.

"It is somehow a pain to come through the race in such a way in only two laps, I think it is the worst conclusion to an already bad weekend for us, a difficult weekend for us.

"I think it is not time to look for responsibility or accuse, it is time to work, united."

Following the incident, Ferrari cancelled it's post-race press conference.

Although loath to place the blame on either driver for the contact, Charles Leclerc has already accepted the fault to be his own, saying during the race: "I let the team down. I can only be sorry even though it's not enough."
