McLaren has revised its livery for the 2020 season, adding the #WeRaceAsOne rainbow, that already featured on the halo, to the sidepods.

Formula 1 has taken a firm stance against racism and discrimination of all kinds, and launched the #WeRaceAsOne initiative in a bid to combat the issue head on.

The visible representation of this is the rainbow, created using the colours of each team to make it unique to Formula 1.

“We fully support Formula 1 on the #WeRaceAsOne campaign as we return to racing," said Brown.

"Formula 1 and McLaren have a truly worldwide audience, and we recognise that our return to the track is a huge opportunity for our sport to make an impact at a global level, helping those most affected by the Covid-19 crisis and standing together against the blight of racism, as we work steadfastly to build an even stronger culture of diversity, inclusion and equality in our team and our sport.”

Speaking in an earlier media conference call which included GPFans, team principal Andreas Seidl added, "All I would like to say from a McLaren point of view, racism and discrimination is clearly something that has no place at McLaren.

"The culture we have in our team is one where we value every single member, and the contribution of every single member of the team, providing equal opportunities for all."

Making its own stand against discrimination, Mercedes has ditched its traditional silver livery, and will run in black for the 2020 season.
