Racing Point became the first Formula 1 team to take to the track in 2020 machinery since the conclusion of pre-season testing.

While Mercedes and Renault both completed unlimited mileage at Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring respectively, using their 2018 cars to escape the draconian testing restrictions, Racing Point elected to complete the second of two permitted filming days, with Lance Stroll assuming driving duties.

Racing Point were allowed to complete just 100km on testing specification tyres.

The difference in time spent on track is stark, with Stroll able to complete just 37 laps of the 2.368km Silverstone national circuit, while Daniel Ricciardo clocked up a total of 115 laps of the Red Bull Ring on Tuesday for Renault, a total distance of 497.49km.

However, the time spent on track is of little consequence, when the primary focus of the test was to get team personnel up to speed with the new health and safety procedures of Formula 1.
