Carlos Sainz has set his sights firmly on making sure McLaren take fourth place in the 2020 Formula 1 constructors' championship.
Sainz signed a two-year deal with Ferrari earlier this month, replacing the outgoing Sebastian Vettel at the Scuderia, following an impressive debut season at the Woking outfit.
However, the Spaniard is not letting the future get in his way, and remains focused on ensuring that his current team are in the best position possible when racing resumes.
"The target, as soon as the season starts, is to keep improving some of my weaknesses from last year that I still think I have, and I want to keep pushing and making sure I keep the momentum going from last year into this year, keep improving and never relax," Sainz said during an Instagram live interview with Formula 1.
"I want to always keep pushing myself, my engineers and everyone around me to keep scoring good points and good results and make sure McLaren keeps fourth place in the championship, that at the moment I think is where it deserves to be."
One of the highlights of Sainz's short time with McLaren has been the camaraderie between himself and teammate Lando Norris, with the pair's bond showcased across the team's social media channels.
Sainz added: "I will miss him, for sure. We've had an incredible relationship. We are actually good mates and I am really enjoying my time in McLaren with him and I am keen to keep enjoying it until the end of the year.
"I am sure I will keep a good relationship with him, probably even better because we will be the same rivals but not with the pressure of being teammates once the season is over.
"I will definitely miss him but it will be good fun."
