Williams launch the FW43

Williams have revealed a series of images of the new FW43, the car that the team hope can pull them back into the midfield battle after featuring largely at the back of the pack in a disappointing 2019 campaign.

Williams will run with the red of title sponsor ROKiT featuring prominently across the sidepods and the rear wing in 2020 while the blue which was run in 2019 relains on the front detailing of the car.

Cheif engineer Adam Carter says that, despite the obvious deficit in performance to the rest of the field in 2019, Williams have carried over some of the concepts featured on the FW42 into the new season.

“The decision to retain some of the core architecture of the FW42 means there has been less resource invested in developing new concepts, which in turn has rewarded the design team with greater bandwidth to optimise their work, evident in both packaging and component detail," said Carter.

"By preserving some key parameters, it has allowed for an uninterrupted development programme within Aerodynamics in order to maximise the efficiency of the resources. As we head towards the pre-season tests and then onto the race season, the most important measure will be the progress relative to our peers, along with our intention of continuing our recent record of reliability."

Williams scored just one point in 2019, Robert Kubica making the most of the chaos cuased by the weather in the German Grand Prix to score the teams only top ten finish of the season.

The return left Williams cut adrift at the foot of the table and the FW43 is the car the team hope can improve their fortunes after a slow, progressive slide backwards down the order that started in 2014.
