No deadline as FIA investigate Hubert crash

The FIA will not put a deadline on its investigation into the crash which cost Anthoine Hubert his life at Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday.

Hubert succumbed to his injuries after high-speed collision between his and Juan Manuel Correa's car at Raidillon.

Correa remains in hospital with fractures to his legs and a spinal injury.

FIA race director Michael Masi said no stone would be left unturned in the search for answers and potential lessons to learn from the incient.

"I don't think we've put any time on it," Masi said.

"The safety, medical, technical departments within the FIA, together the FIA with the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium, which is the FIA's designated sporting body, is working with the local authorities, and will go through that process.

"We'll go through the process basically of conducting a full and complete investigation, as the FIA does with all serious incidents. It will be all aspects of the incident."

He added: "I think safety is ever-evolving; once different technologies become available, different materials become available. It is not something that will ever end.

"I've said it before and I'll repeat it, safety is one of the core pillars of the FIA and why they exist, and that is something that just won't stop.

"We'll continue to research and look at things and improve things as best as we can."
