Belgian Grand Prix: Starting grid with penalties applied

Charles Leclerc took his third pole position of 2019 at the Belgian Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel completing an all-Ferrari front row behind him.

The red cars were in a class of their own on Saturday, with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas consigned to the second row and Max Verstappen starting fifth.

Behind the top five, there is plenty of mixing up to do thanks to a slew of grid penalties.

Alexander Albon, Daniil Kvyat and Lance Stroll came into the weekend with starts at the back of the field hanging over them, while Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz took five-place drops for new engines.

Ricciardo and Hulkenberg, not actually using their new units, qualified sixth and seventh in a fine result for Renault, but drop to 10th and 12th respectively.

Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Kubica took penalties after their engines blew out in qualifying.

Kubica will start from the pit-lane after Williams opted to make changes to his car under parc ferme. Giovinazzi drops to the back of the grid. Sainz took another penalty for a new energy store and MGU-K, but it does not alter his grid slot, owing to the greater penalties of those behind him.
