Ricciardo fighting £10million court case

Daniel Ricciardo will defend a High Court claim that he owes £10million to his former manager over a role played in his high-profile move to Renault from Red Bull.

According to documents seen by Autosport and BBC Sport, Glenn Beavis is claiming to be owed 20 per cent commission on Ricciardo's Renault salary and other elements of his deal.

Beavis is understood to have worked with Ricciardo since 2012, helping to broker deals with Red Bull.

Beavis featured in an episode of the Netflix F1 documentary 'Drive to Survive' while Ricciardo was shown deliberating over his future, which ultimately ended in him signing a two-year deal with Renault.

It is reported that Beavis claims he had begun to negotiate with Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul as early as mid-2017.

Ricciardo's move was announced in the 2018 summer break, although it is reported that his contract was not signed until the week before the 2019 season started, by which time he had attempted to terminate his agreement with Beavis.

Ricciardo's representative Jeremy Courtenay-Stamp is quoted by the BBC as saying: "Daniel's position is very clear - there is no merit whatsoever in relation to this claim and we are going to defend it absolutely fully."

The driver and his legal team has until the end of July to file the case for his defence.
