Behind the scenes at the British Grand Prix with SportPesa Racing Point
An amazing experience!
A British Grand Prix is always an occasion to savour, and this year's was all the more as Lewis Hamilton won a race for the ages, but GPFans' Silverstone experience was made all the more sweet by SportPesa Racing Point.
We were very fortunate to be invited to Silverstone by SportPesa, taking up residence in the Hotel Bell Tent campsite.
We say campsite..
That's not doing it much justice…

Arriving on the Friday, with free practice on the agenda, we made our way to the paddock.
After F1's on-track action came a rare treat, a guided tour of the SportPesa Racing Point garage, as the cars were being disassembled after practice.

The secrets shared there will be kept under our hat, but soon enough you will hear of what came next: a sit-down with Sergio Perez, discussing the Mexican Grand Prix, the state of Formula 1 heading into 2021 and much, much more. Keep your eyes on GPFans for that.
While the weekend was frustrating for the team on home turf, time with Perez leaves you under little illusion that this team – one of the great overachievers in its previous guise – has plenty more up its sleeve in the years to come.
After a mesmeric qualifying on Saturday, race day began with another treat – a sit-down at breakfast with former world champion boxer Tony Bellew, who had been on fine form at the Sportpesa Racing Point fanzone the night before.

Up for discussion included Bellew's storied career and a newfound admiration for the athleticism of Formula 1 drivers – and indeed F1 as a whole.
The weekend was not just for fun, with the team and its title sponsor also announcing a seriously impressive charitable movement ahead of the race.
Keep a tally on the pink cars this year, after the SportPesa Grid That Gives initiative was announced at Silverstone.
For every place gained from the grid by Perez and Lance Stroll, SportPesa will donate £1000 to Breast Cancer Care.

SportPesa Racing Point has already raised over £212,000 for the cancer charity. Given Lance and Sergio's penchant for fast starts, we reckon the figure will start climbing pretty rapidly!
SportPesa and Racing Point could not have been kinder to us all weekend, we thank them for an unforgettable experience!
