Haas keep Rich Energy branding for Silverstone

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has confirmed that Rich Energy's branding will remain on the team's cars, motorhome and more at the British GP, despite the company posting a tweet claiming to have terminated their contract.

Rich Energy's tumultuous 18 months or so connected to Formula 1 took a sharp turn on Wednesday when the company's Twitter account released a statement, claiming that "poor performance" had led to them terminating their sponsorship of Haas.

Steiner released a brief Twitter statement on Thursday, confirming that Rich Energy remained the team's sponsor and followed that up with a packed media briefing at Silverstone.

"I don't want to put anybody in a difficult situation but I cannot say anything about it," said Steiner.

"They [Rich Energy] will be on the car this weekend and then the rest we need to sort out going forward what we are doing. The commercial agreement doesn't let me talk any more about it and I don't want to."

Haas have failed to turn clear pace into strong results this season and sit ninth in the team standings after nine races and Steiner says improving the team's fortunes is his priority, rather than their sponsor's claims.

"It's part of the job," he said. "You can do without it but it's not like I'm staying up at night thinking about it. We get on with our job.

"For me more important is we get the car where we want to be. That is our focus.

"We are being professional about it and I think I'm known to be professional. When I can speak, I speak, when I cannot, I don't speak. It's no point to go into a war of words about something.

"It doesn't upset me, it's just something I need to deal with next week and I will."
