Vettel goes on the defensive ahead of Canada penalty hearing

Sebastian Vettel says Ferrari will bring new evidence to a review of his Canadian Grand Prix penalty, maintaining his belief that he was incorrectly punished. Vettel gave little away when he faced media in Le Castellet on Thursday, with an FIA hearing to follow a day later.

Vettel offered curt responses to many lines of questioning, directing any requests for details on Ferrari's evidence to the team.

Ferrari will face the stewards between Friday's practice sessions for the French Grand Prix, where Vettel will get his first opportunity to put his side of things across to the stewards.

"First of all it is to open the case again and have another look," said Vettel.

"I think we bring some information that maybe the stewards didn't have at the time, and we'll see what happens."

Asked if he thought he would be awarded the win, Vettel said: "I don't know, but I still have the same view as I had two weeks ago. So we will see what happens."

Vettel deflected questions about the former champions who have come out in support, and to criticise him alike.

Nico Rosberg was a rare voice in critiquing Vettel's actions as he squirmed back onto the track ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who inherited victory as a result.
