Hamilton will give Bottas no chance in Canada - Rosberg

Lewis Hamilton's former Mercedes rival Nico Rosberg says the world champion will give current colleague Valtteri Bottas "no chance" at the Canadian Grand Prix. According to Rosberg, Hamilton is "unbeatable" in Montreal, although the Finn has closed the gap recently.

Hamilton and Bottas have shared race victories at the six events so far in 2019 four to two, a stark improvement for the latter after a winless 2018 campaign.

Bottas has also kept the margins narrow in qualifying, with three pole positions to his name.

However, Canada is a different task, with Hamilton having won on six previous occasions at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, just one win off Michael Schumacher's Montreal record.

And the 2016 world champion says Bottas should not get down heartened if he comes off second best this weekend, as Hamilton is simply too strong in Canada.

Who will win the Canadian GP?

Rosberg told Bild newspaper: "Lewis is unbeatable in Montreal. Monaco was actually his Achilles heel, but he even won that.

"Valtteri will continue to be dangerous to Lewis. In qualifying, he has often been faster, but in the race Lewis always does it somehow.

"Only in Canada does Valtteri have no chance at all."

Ferrari suggested they may be able to challenge after Charles Leclerc topped the timesheets in FP2, a session that Hamilton missed most of after crashing into the wall out of Turn 9.

However, Rosberg gave a harsh assessment of the Scuderia's chances.

He said: "Ferrari has no strategy, no good car, nothing good actually at the moment."
