Leclerc quicker than Mercedes, but faces possible penalty: Monaco GP FP3 Results

Ferrari were put firmly on the back foot for Monaco Grand Prix qualifying after a difficult third practice session on Saturday morning. Sebastian Vettel crashed early in FP3, wiping out his session, while Charles Leclerc faces an anxious wait to see if he will be punished for an infringement in the ensuing VSC period.

Vettel locked up and hit the barriers at Ste Devote, damaging the front left suspension of his SF90.

While he is likely to make it out for qualifying, he will do so without crucial momentum.

If Leclerc does suffer a grid penalty for his infringement, it will be a bitter blow to Ferrari after the home driver ended FP3 quicker than the Mercedes pair of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, who dominated Thursday practice.

Max Verstappen also remained in the mix with Mercedes, while Pierre Gasly was as close to the Dutchman as he has been at any race this year.

It could point to a thrilling qualifying battle – here's hoping!
