Ricciardo receives grid penalty for Spain after Kvyat collision
Always check your rear...
Daniel Ricciardo has received a grid penalty for next month’s Spanish Grand Grand Prix in Barcelona after an incident during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix which saw him reverse into the Toro Rosso of Daniil Kvyat after the duo had went off-track at the same time.
In the latter stages of the race in Baku, Ricciardo attempted to get beyond Kvyat into 10th, only to slide into the area to the side of the track, with the Russian soon following in behind.

The Australian, eager to get his race going again, hastily reversed without looking, crashing into Kvyat’s car, causing damage to the floor. The incident led to both drivers having to retire, but it is Ricciardo who has received punishment in the form of a three-place grid penalty as well as two penalty points added to his license.
He has since apologised to Kvyat for the incident.
"I don't feel good about what happened. It's weird," Ricciardo he told Sky Sports F1.
"I saw a gap so thought I would have a go. Initially, I had the commitment and thought I would pull it off. But then I felt I would start to lock and missed the corner.

"As soon as I went down the escape road it was a sense of urgency and a bit of panic, I guess, and just trying to minimise damage and lose as little time as possible. I found reverse and started going and had no idea he was there. I guess the urgency stopped me from looking.
"When I went long, I assumed he would have cut back and stayed on track. Trying to minimise the mistake I made turned into another mistake."
