VIDEO: Vettel drives New York circuit that never was

If you're waiting with baited breath for the Miami Grand Prix to be added to the Formula 1 calendar, maybe this vintage clip can serve as a warning. D you remember the New Jersey circuit that was set to make it to F1? Here Sebastian Vettel takes us on a tour of the course that never was.

In 2012, when Vettel was a two-time world champion, having shrugged off his reputation as an error-prone driver (hmm), the hot new ticket in F1 was the Port Imperial Street Circuit, a 19-turn tour along the Hudson River.

Vettel was not the only driver to give the circuit a go, indeed David Coulthard did likewise in 2012 when the race had been 'confirmed' as part of the 2013 schedule.

Of course, as we now know, the race never happened. Amid trouble to secure funding, the race was removed from provisional calendars in 2014 and 2015 as well, before it was finally given up on.

With an American street circuit back on the agenda in F1, who likes the look of this, compared to Miami?

Which race would you prefer in F1?
