Raikkonen's Ferrari career ends in Abu Dhabi DNF

Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari career came to a premature end at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as his final race for the Scuderia ended on lap seven amid engine failure. The Finn will depart for Sauber at the end of the year after eight seasons in Ferrari red.

Raikkonen was running in fourth – his starting position – when his car suffered a loss of power.

The Ferrari limped onto the start-finish straight and parked almost on the start line, bringing out a brief VSC period.

Ferrari have never taken pole position or a race victory at the Yas Marina Circuit and Raikkonen's DNF is another string of poor fortune for the red cars just next door to a theme park bearing their name.

Raikkonen's eighth season with the Scuderia ends with the Finn having accrued 251 points with 12 podium finishes, including a victory at the United States GP, which was his first in more than 100 races.

He will finish the season third in the drivers' championship, unless Valtteri Bottas secures a top-three finish from the front row of the grid – while Max Verstappen can also overtake him with a top-two finish.
